Edelman’s Healthcare Practice is currently looking for a Account Manager to join our Mumbai office, to play a major role in leading integrated communications marketing campaigns, partnering with colleagues across India (and some from APAC).

While no one day is alike, you will touch upon everything from thought leadership to reputation management, stakeholder communications and influencer outreach, disease awareness campaigns and product launches, to patient and patient group engagement, while incorporating social media and digital channels into client programs. You will actively support several client teams in a variety of areas – whether that’s patient associations, NGOs, ministries of health, hospitals, life sciences organizations, fitness providers and wellness associations, tech firms, biopharmaceutical giants or emerging biotechs. (We also expect you to be challenged, to push yourself and your colleagues, and have fun while collaborating on programs that engage Indians on health — their own and that of those around them — to ultimately improve outcomes). 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serving as the daily client contact and as client lead when appropriate, earning the trust of clients to deliver day to day work as well as providing proactive counsel on new approaches or ideas that will help meet clients’ broader objectives.
  • Media relations, including story and message development, creating, and driving outreach plans, speaking to journalists regularly to secure national media coverage/briefings with senior editors and correspondents, briefing spokespeople, and ongoing development of own media contacts.
  • Playing a key role in the research, planning and development of campaigns and driving these forward.
  • Practical and solid understanding of the earned, owned, paid and social media space and how to incorporate these channels into client plans for holistic communications programmes.
  • Overseeing quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence for junior members of teams, providing close coaching and development.
  • Producing content; writing/editing press releases, social media content, articles, PR proposals.
  • Providing support on new business pitches – research, slide development, driving forward process including work back plans and managing junior teams’ inputs.

The ideal candidate for this role will have/be:

  • Graduation/Post Graduation in fields related to medicine, biotechnology, pharma, bio sciences, life sciences.
  • 4-5 years of progressive experience in communications marketing in the health sector; experience in agency considered an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to articulate point of view with confidence and gravitas
  • Proven track record in prioritising work load as well as supporting junior team members
  • Ability to service multiple clients, work in a matrix structure, and prioritise deliverables
  • Ability to balance ‘quick hits’ and longer term strategy and understanding the difference
  • Ability to manage both up and down and take overall responsibility of day to day client deliverables
  • Experience of integrating with different practices / teams on cross-business work, ability to work collaboratively with a variety of people to meet client expectations 
  • Interest in current affairs, news, international business - related to medicine & healthcare
  • A desire to share previous expertise and experience to enhance work of the team
