Account Manager – Ogilvy
An Account Manager at Ogilvy should be a capable communications and advertising professional, able to handle a wide range of projects with a high degree of independence and sound judgement.
An Account Manager should have the ability and experience to play a primary, independent role in client work. They must be proficient in strategic thinking, creative campaign development and briefing, timeline and budget management, delivering campaign assets based on media plans (TV, VOD, Radio, Audio, Social, Digital Display, Print, and OOH) and client relationship management skills. They should be actively involved in programme development and presentations, as well as having the confidence and ability to advise clients in relation to issue management. The Account Manager should be capable, if necessary, of being the lead contact for the client, depending on the consultancy or business need.
There is no time limit on being an Account Manager. Progression to Senior Account Manager will depend on the individual's development.
Account Management
The Account Manager is expected to:
- Perform day-to-day client account work, which will normally include: taking briefs from clients, development SOWs and managing financial approvals, POs and billings, developing project timelines and meeting those timelines. Briefing creative teams and vendors, dispatching assets, maintaining client relationships, managing projects performed with and by others, and supervising more junior staff.
- Be fully familiar with Ogilvy’s marketing plans for client accounts and understand and track clients' business and advertising
- Act as a liaison between the client, outside suppliers (graphic designers, photographers, illustrators, ), and, as appropriate, other internal and external audiences (e.g., employees, media, interest groups).
- Meet with client contacts and others in a professional, positive, and appropriate manner and earn their respect and confidence.
- Have good knowledge of the full range of resources available throughout the company and Group and understand how these can be best applied on behalf of
- Have a good knowledge of advertising measurement tools available within Ogilvy and in the external marketplace.
- Have a working knowledge of other account teams and other Ogilvy
- Be a skilled writer, capable of producing client presentations, contact reports, case histories, award submissions, and other materials.
- Possess considerable social media skills with multiple examples of delivering work in this area.
- Understand clearance body processes and approval systems (e.g. RTE, Virgin, Clearcast)
- Understand and have the ability to execute copy instructions of TV, VOD and Radio
- Be familiar with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet search
Crisis/Issues Management
- Provide support to senior management in crisis/issue
- Provide support, as required, to the senior management team during client
Financial/Administrative
Routinely apply understanding of budget development and
- Understand and manage billing and activity reporting
- Oversee preparation of activity reports as and when
- Complete timesheets daily and otherwise act in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Manage time for optimum productivity and maximum
Business Development
- Make increasingly substantive contributions to the development and presentation of new business programmes for potential and existing
- Demonstrate ability to conceptualise programme strategies, elements, and implementation
- Identify and support opportunities to grow existing accounts, reactivate dormant accounts, or pursue new business.
- Consistently contribute informed opinions, as well as creative and effective answers to client issues and needs.
Initiative and General Management
- Balance workload and tasks, communicating effectively with team members to reliably implement assignments on budget and on deadline.
- Exemplify solid teamwork capabilities and demonstrate supervisory
- Consistently identify and pursue opportunities for enhancing involvement in, and contributions to, the account, team, and consultancy.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying and proposing enhanced ways to advance team, group, agency, and client interests.
- Operate with a high degree of independence, but know when to rely on own judgement and when to seek advice from supervisors and other team
- Apply sound judgement in anticipating and taking action to avoid workplace and client issues and problems.
- Demonstrate proficiency in managing agency and client resources: people, time, and recommend solutions when problems arise and assist peers in problem-solving
- Use talents of colleagues in own problem solving
- Proactively seek and share information with colleagues and client
- Participate actively in team, staff, and client meetings
Professional & Personal Development
- Display work ethic and values of Ogilvy in day-to-day behaviour
- Take initiative in building their skills and knowledge and otherwise increasing their value to the consultancy and clients.
