As a 3D Software Engineering Leader, you will
- Oversee production workflows, managing resources and balancing workloads to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with architecture teams to ensure platforms and products are scalable, modular, and technically aligned with IKEA’s strategies.
- Maintain and enforce quality standards across all 3D disciplines and ensure technical excellence.
- Promote best practices in both engineering and production workflows, driving innovation in technology and processes.
- Guide teams with extensive knowledge of IKEA’s business model to improve information flow and ensure alignment with technical goals.
- Lead onboarding and skill development for new engineers and team members, supporting the building of a future-ready team.
- Advocate for security and engineering best practices across the organization.
- Explore and implement new technologies to enhance system performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Set strategic engineering priorities, co-create technical roadmaps, and optimize the delivery of products.
- Represent IKEA’s technology both internally and externally in the broader market.
To be successful in this role, we expect you have
- Proven experience as a senior or lead SW Engineering role with hands-on 3D development experience.
- Expertise in 3D software and related development, with a deep understanding of computer graphics, offline and real-time rendering, and asset pipelines.
- Experience with 3D/VFX workflows and product development pipelines, including tools such as Revit, SolidWorks, CATIA, and 3D Digital Content Creation (DCC) tools (e.g., V-Ray, rendering queue management).
- Good understanding of Pixar’s USD (Universal Scene Description) and MaterialX structure is a plus.
- General knowledge of 3D asset creation processes, including texturing, lighting, rigging, and posing.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Azure, Terraform, Docker, OpenAPI, Three.js, React, and C++. Openness to learning these tools is key.
- A DevOps mindset to ensure the smooth operation of business-critical applications.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working with Agile development teams.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, manage expectations, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, time management, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English for effective global communication.
