POSITION SUMMARY
The Mental Health Promotion Training Coordinator will work as part of Jigsaw’s Mental Health Promotion Department and play a key role in contributing to the implementation of Jigsaw’s Mental Health Promotion work as set out in Jigsaw’s ‘Together’ Strategy (2022-2025). The post holder will take a lead in developing, implementing and evaluating a broad range of mental health promotion initiatives. A core feature of the role will involve building the capacity and practical skills of organisations, and adults in the lives of young people, to better support their mental health. This role will be suitable for individuals, experienced in facilitation and training, with a third level qualification in health promotion and /or mental health-related disciplines.
To support the post holder, the Mental Health Promotion Manager will provide regular supervision. In addition, any training/upskilling required by the post holder to enable them to maximise their role, will be provided on the job as identified through supervision to support the person within their role.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Play a key role in the implementation of Jigsaw’s Mental Health Promotion actions as set out in ‘Together’ Strategy (2022-2025)
- Develop, implement and evaluate a broad range of mental health promotion initiatives to build practical skills and resources of the adults in the lives of young people
- Develop and implement mental health promotion training for professionals who work with young people across Jigsaw services and nationally
- Oversee the training process to support Jigsaw staff to deliver mental health promotion offerings in communities
- Lead the implementation and monitoring of quality assurance processes related to Jigsaw’s mental health promotion programmes, within Jigsaw and with partners
- Line manage staff and youth volunteers within the Youth Mental Health Promotion Department as appropriate
- Represent Jigsaw on internal and external working groups to maximise collaboration and partnership working
- Uphold Jigsaw’s commitment to Youth Voice by ensuring the voices of young people are central to the development of the work
- Monitor KPIs regarding mental health promotion offerings
- Work alongside the Research and Evaluation Team in the evaluation of mental health promotion programmes and initiatives
- Produce written reports and papers in relation to the team’s mental health promotion work
- Stay current with international developments in youth mental health promotion and training and adapt innovative programmes and practices to continually enhance Jigsaw’s mental health promotion work
- Carry out other duties upon request by the organisation in fulfillment of Jigsaw’s mission and vision.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Essential Criteria:
- A third level degree or masters qualification in health promotion, public health or other relevant subject, or specific allied health professions (i.e. Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Mental Health Nursing, Psychology, Psychotherapy only)
- Understanding of the issues which impact on the mental health of young people and an understanding of mental health promotion, prevention and early intervention strategies
- At least three years’ work experience in the field of health promotion or mental health promotion
- Significant experience of designing and delivering education and training programmes and initiatives in relevant health promotion or mental health settings (i.e. where programme development, training and facilitation was a key part of your role)
- Experience of developing educational content for dissemination (e.g. training manuals, webinars, webpages, social media, toolkits), with particular reference to youth mental health
- Experience and skills in group facilitation, and deploying a wide variety of presentation and facilitation technique skills to ensure best learning outcomes for participants
- Experience of managing programmes/projects from initiation through to evaluation
- Ability to write comprehensive framework documents, work plans and progress reports
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with a variety of individuals and organisations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate and work with a range of audiences from a variety of backgrounds
- Genuine passion for working with young people, their mental health and influencing change in Irish society in relation to youth mental health
Desirable criteria:
- Familiarity of the youth mental health landscape
- Experience of developing and delivering education and/or promotion programmes in mental health
- Ability to meet strict deadlines and targets
- Able to work independently as well as part of a Team, and the ability to prioritise a variety of tasks, and pay careful attention to detail
- High tolerance for complexity and change and an ability to flourish and adapt in a dynamic environment
- Reliability, flexibility, and commitment
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Full, clean driving licence & access to a car.
