SUMMARY: Monitors, maintains, and improves production equipment and processes under the direction of the Engineering/Maintenance Supervisor and Operations staff
RESPONSIBILITIES: To include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies. Ensure that safe and sanitary working conditions are maintained in the facility in accordance with Company standards, as well as state & federal laws and regulations. Know and understand your OSHA rights. Conduct safety training topics as required or needed. Responsible for attending all assigned safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training sessions. As required, promptly investigate accidents and near misses, completing appropriate reports and taking action to eliminate root causes.
- Support daily production schedules through the timely troubleshooting and repair of faulty equipment, both electrical and mechanical in nature
- Monitor machine and process efficiency and to ensure production goals are consistently met
- Collect and analyze data to ensure machine performance is maintained and to identify opportunities for improvement
- Work with Engineering team to identify, support, and lead projects focused on improving the safety, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes
- Support the development, implementation, and enhancement of an effective preventative maintenance (PM) program to ensure consistent equipment performance
- Assist the maintenance staff to ensure PM activities are completed effectively and at their scheduled intervals
- Assist in maintaining spare part inventories, to include cataloguing of components and suggesting items to be on stock as equipment history is obtained
- Perform daily chemical analysis on liquid e-coat samples (pH, conductivity, % solids, titrations)
- Maintain and document equipment repair history for trend analysis
- Conduct root cause analysis of machine faults and maintenance repairs with recommendations for process or machinery improvements
- Develop and maintain effective lines of communication between manufacturing personnel, supervisory personnel, and outside contacts as required

SKILLS/EQUIPMENT/QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
- Prior experience in the following areas a plus:
- Metal finishing
- Electrocoating
- Ovens
- RO water systems
- Wastewater treatment systems
- Hoists and/or rigging
- Automated equipment
- Allen Bradley controls
Technical Knowledge
- Experience in the maintenance of automated assembly equipment and its operation to include electro/mechanical troubleshooting of pneumatics and industrial controls and the ability to facilitate necessary repairs once issues are properly identified.
- Basic understanding of mechanical processing equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, filtration, and ovens
- Understanding of PM and TPM strategies and how they relate to the management of industrial automation.
- Ability to communicate equipment issues to operations and manufacturing engineering staff in an accurate and technical manner.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
